2009 Kentucky Derby Contender, I Want Revenge

With the 2009 Kentucky Derby only two days away, Las Vegas sportsbooks are preparing for the chaos that lies ahead when thousands of horse racing enthusiasts will flock to casino racebooks looking to place bets on the horse they think will win.

The 135th running of the Kentucky Derby is set to take place on Saturday, May 2, 2009, and is the first leg of the Triple Crown betting series. Location: Churchill Downs, Louisville KY. Post Time: 6:04 PM (EST). TV Network: NBC, 5:00PM (EST).

Kentucky Derby odds for the big race are being spotlighted everywhere and this year the four favorites have come down to these impressive horses:

I Want Revenge – Recently had two consecutive wins the most recent being the Wood Memorial, has an impressive bloodline that includes Seattle Slew and Secretaria. After breaking badly in the Wood Memorial on April 4, I Want Revenge and rider Joe Talamo combined for a thrilling, gritty win.

Dunkirk – The 3-year-old son of Unbridled’s Song from the barn of Todd Pletcher. Showed his quality first time out in graded stakes company, coming in 2nd behind highly regarded Quality Road in Florida Derby.

Pioneerof the Nile – Bob Baffert-trained and has one of the best jockeys aboard in Garret Gomez. Impressed in latest win in Santa Anita Derby on April 4 despite absence of rival The Pamplemousse.

Fresian Fire – Trained by Larry Jones, whose ill-fated Eight Belles last year was a Derby runner-up. Swept Louisiana series for 3-year-olds with a convincing win in Louisiana Derby on Mar. 14 in the slop.

Will one of these four Kentucky Derby contenders be the first to cross the finish line on Saturday?
